Painted in 2000, shortly after Hurricane Floyd wreaked havoc in the Bahamas, these two paintings, “Sandbar I” and “Sandbar II” , show how much sand was moved along Treasure Cay beach, to the Point. Over the intervening years, this sand gradually receded, until Hurricane Dorian struck in 2019, exactly 20 years after Floyd, creating another huge sandbar and lagoon, at the same spot. The originals are both in a private collection, but prints are available and sold separately or together. Like the originals, hung side by side they create a fantastically beautiful image of this wonderful beach, equally effective close together or set wider apart. Hung as individual pieces, they both work well, the figures at the shoreline leading the eye to the water’s edge.
