In May and June, the island of Fehmarn, in the Baltic, Germany, is covered with yellow rapeseed. A heady perfume fills the air and the light is so clear, making these fields perfect subjects for oil painting. I have visited Fehmarn many times, and never tire of painting these dazzling colours of the yellow fields against the vibrant, clear blue of the sky.
