Collection: Seychelles

I was first invited to visit the Seychelles, in 2002. This was as a result of a meeting in London, decades earlier, with an art collector, who later became involved in marketing the Seychelles as a tourist destination and felt that my paintings would be a unique and exciting way to promote these luxurious Indian Ocean islands.

I was asked to produce a series of 30 seascape oil paintings of Seychelles, visiting over 16 of the 115 unique islands. These included Mahé, Praslin, North Island, Denis Island, Bird Island, Alphonse and La Digue, amongst many others. There, the famous Banyan Tree is found, as well as other unique and exotic flora and fauna. This collection was launched at an exhibition in London, and opened by the Vice President of the Seychelles, who honoured me with a gift of a Coco de Mer, the national symbol of the islands.

The truly wonderful and exotic quality of these islands has been a very special inspiration for my Seychelles oil paintings, the white, sandy beaches, palm trees and iridescent waters of this tropical destination creating an unending stream of subject matter.
