Collection: Seychelles

My first visit to the Seychelles came in 2002, following an invitation that had its origins many years earlier. During a meeting in London with an art collector, we discussed the unique atmosphere and beauty of these remarkable Indian Ocean islands. Decades later, that same collector, by then involved in promoting the Seychelles as a luxury tourist destination, suggested that my paintings could capture the character of the islands in a way that photography never could.

I was commissioned to create a collection of thirty original oil paintings inspired by the Seychelles. Over several visits I travelled extensively, painting on location across more than sixteen of the archipelago's 115 islands, including Mahé, Praslin, La Digue, North Island, Denis Island, Bird Island and Alphonse. From the world-renowned beaches of the Banyan Tree resort to secluded coves, granite headlands and crystal-clear lagoons, each location offered its own distinctive light, colour and atmosphere.

The completed collection was unveiled at a prestigious exhibition in London, opened by the Vice President of the Republic of Seychelles. In recognition of my work, I was honoured to receive a Coco de Mer, the iconic palm seed that has become the national symbol of the Seychelles.

The Seychelles continues to be one of the most inspiring places I have ever painted. The brilliant turquoise waters, sculptured granite rocks, pristine white beaches and luxuriant tropical vegetation create an extraordinary harmony of colour and light. Every visit has revealed new subjects and fresh perspectives, making the islands an enduring source of inspiration throughout my career.

This collection of original Seychelles oil paintings celebrates the timeless beauty of one of the world's most remarkable island destinations. Whether depicting a tranquil beach at dawn, the movement of sunlight across the Indian Ocean, or the dramatic coastline of a remote island, each painting seeks to convey not only the landscape itself but also the unique sense of peace and wonder that makes the Seychelles so unforgettable.
